For years I’ve had the habit of picking up every penny every bit of change I see on the ground. Not too proud to stop and pick up one penny on the ground.
I’m not doing it out of a sense of prosperity, if I say my pennies the dollars will follow kind of thing.
It’s actually acknowledging childhood bullying. In my high school years we had a mentally challenged kid in my class. I remember other students would toss pennies and nickels on the ground and he would sing for them. He probably thought he was their friend. I didn’t participate but I didn’t stop it either. So I’ve always thought of Eddie every time I stopped to pick up a penny.
Every penny.
